10 unsupported steps!!! And Rocket added ‘ball’ to his repertoire a couple weeks ago. Ball, mama, mum-mum, fish.

knees!

December 6, 2010

Guess who crawled 2 feet last night? Rocket! No belly dragging…just hands and knees. He’s so excited about his new mobility, so instead of say, falling asleep he waits until I think he’s almost there and then he pops up an scampers over to me. Big, bright eyes and giggling the whole way. love love love.

Rocket has been a fountain of drool for some weeks now. Also has been frequently overwhelmed with an intense need to grab my face and yank it toward him so that he can bite down on my nose. The combination results in a swift injection of baby saliva up my nostrils.

Last night was the worst night of sleep by far–waking up hourly and crying with lots of tears. It’s such an unusual circumstance for him I vaguely suspected something new but…we were both home sick with colds (no fever) and his first nap of the day had been interrupted by some aspiring young burglars and subsequent police activity. The excitement of his first undercover cop car ride and the perpetrator lineup must have killed the possibility of a good nap that day. Pretty key to a good night’s sleep. In any event, I was disappointed in my calming skills through the night and prepared to phone the doc in the morning. But morning rolled around and he woke up cheerful and happy as usual, so the call was put off.  After Greg treated to Thursday night diablo wraps at Aqui (awesome), Rocket started crying just a little bit. I gave him my pinky finger to suck on and boom, there was a tooth. Tooth O, but I’m calling it Pearl.

Nights are going to be a little rough for a bit. More opportunities to write superstar cover letters.

Rocket and Mitt Mitt have sojourned twice to Mill Valley/Muir Woods now thanks to my sibs. We spent Derby weekend and the following extended weekend trekking and relaxing on the deck with plenty of soft cheeses.

attempting to compare Rocket's size to the growth rings in this redwood cross-section but it wasn't quite visible...

Dragon eye. Derby weekend.

Mother's Day weekend:)

Got a summary from one of Rocket’s Docs at Stanford today in the mail. And I quote: “Gabriel looks like an outstanding healthy young 8-day-old boy”

awww…

Outstanding…just for using that word we have developed a lifelong crush on Doc Stanford. But actually, we got almost as excited reading phrases like “There is no scleral icterus. Mucous membranes are moist.”

sweetest baby.
